MANILA -- Singapore’s much-lauded soy chicken is now available in Manila as Hawker Chan opens its first branch in SM Mall of Asia on Thursday.
Hawker Chan started as Liao Fan Hong Kong Soya Sauce Chicken Rice & Noodle, a simple stall in Singapore’s Chinatown, where Chan Hong Meng served his seemingly simple soy chicken, lauded for its its taste and price, to lines of foodies.
The queues became longer after being awarded a Michelin star in 2016. As a result, Liao Fan Hawker Chan, a relatively upscaled version of the stall was opened in late 2017. It’s this casual dining incarnation that is opening here in Manila.
Bringing affordable Michelin-starred restaurants isn’t new for Foodee Global Concepts, having brought Tim Ho Wan and its pork buns to the Philippines.
”Because of our price point, we want to be where the affordable zoning of the mall would be. Our soy chicken rice is P128 and our char siew is P158. We’re positioning at a very affordable market,” explained Rikki Dee, CEO of Foodee Global Concepts.
Apparently, Foodee is very confident about Hawker Chan as it is opening branches in Bonifacio Global City, Glorietta, and SM North EDSA before the end of the year.
To celebrate the opening of Hawker Chan, customers will get a chance to win a Singapore trip for two when they dine from July 26 to August 5, 2018. Furthermore, the 100 diners will receive 1-year, 6-months, 3-months, and 1-month’s worth of free Hawker Chan products depending on how early you get in line.
Hawker Chan is located at the ground floor of the SM Mall Of Asia’s Entertainment Mall.
